With the 2011 Tsunami as a backdrop, ALL OF OUR HEARTBEATS ARE CONNECTED THROUGH EXPLODING STARS is a staggering odyssey told as an essay on grief, and on how humans and nature rebuild after trauma. It moves from the shores of Japan where Sachiko, Yasu and Satoko try to find ways to accept their loss, to one of the Hawaiian islands where a group of volunteers gather to clean a beach from Japanese tsunami debris floating in from the Ocean.
Jennifer Rainsford is a visual artist and director based in Stockholm. Her short films and installations have been shown at festivals such as Oberhausen, Berlinale, Rotterdam and CPH:DOX. Her last film Lake on fire was selected for the main competition “Startsladden” at Gothenburg IFF 2020. This is Jennifer Rainsford’s debut feature.
